The sound has disappeared when I playback any recorded videos including pre-recorded ones.
A "Hi-Fi" logo keeps appearing & flashing on the screen, there is no problem with the picture.
Any help would be welcome.

Are you talking about a video recorder playback? If so, and it is likely to be a Nicam Stereo Hi-Fi one, look for a button on the remote (or on the front of theVCR) that switches the sound to mono. I have an old Panasonic SVHS VCR and the button on the remote is "Audio Out". Hope this helps.

Thanks wideboy, I found the button on the remote control & put it on AUDIO & it appears to have done the trick.
Great relief as I'm dog-sitting for my son & I'm under strict instructions to record every episode of LOST for the next 3 weeks!!
Dare I suggest that, if you miss an episode, you can download it from the Net then transfer it to a DVD?
