If Labour introduce Identity cards - would ex-pats have to have an English one, being as we are still British, - living in Spain I have to have a Spanish identity card - and personally I think it's a good idea?

I agree with you entirely Zen, I had no idea they were going to be �85, they can stick that where the sun don't shine.

Yes we have to pay but only like �15 approx can't really remember - that's for the lawyer type person(gestor) who runs around for us - he makes it easier as every time you apply, the authorities want different documents and he sorts them out.  The id's last for 5 years. I think that if you do it for yourself its free.

I can't really see the point in identity cards as fraud will always prevail.

What I would object to, is being charged for owning one.

Wasn;t one of the concessions offered that they would not be compulsory for 15 years? wtf happened to that? is this still the plan? How will they manage for 15 years?
