it's not like it was in a purse or a wallet, if it had been a penny you would have put it in your pocket, why is it any different?
I would have kept it too, anyone can just say it's theirs!
i would of done the same thing daneswalk you diddnt do anything wrong they did which ever was lieing dont worry yourself over it , you did what you thought was right xxx

i do feel sorry for the other person it seems that she was the genuine owner
ill bet she was saving that money for a long time, now maybe she does'nt have enough money for food, which means she might starve....or or that could've been for her heating&gas which could leave her freezing to death in this bitter, bitter cold.......could've been her rent money,if she 's got an evil landlord, she could be out on the streets tonight.....or if that was for her local drug dealer, she could be on the street corner whoring herself......let this be a lesson to you....never help no one.......
Unless the old dear was standing there searching for it I`d have kept it
Funnily enough, there was a ten pound note on the floor in our PO a few days back. The person in front of me'd walked out by the time I noticed it, but it could've been anybody's. I handed it in to the cashier.

hey bad company i will not sleep very well tonight thinking of that old dear lets hope you are talking rubbish and she has lots of support from her friends and family
daneswalk i was only kidding, honestly you done the right thing! it bothered me that much which it probably would, just go back to the shop and give the shop keeper a 20 and tell him/her can they give it to the woman in question, and just pass by every couple of days to ask them have they seen her yet,but do you trust the shopkeeper? if all that fails, give 20 pound or whatever you can for charity and that is much much more in my and the general publics eyes gods eyes too im sure!
ffs....I lost 20 today?
If the shopkeeper was Indian or Turkish as is the norm nowadays I`d never hand it over to them
I found a 20 note on the floor of a convenience store and handed it to the shopkeeper. When I went into the store the following day he told me that a very elderly lady had come into his shop, in great distress, because she'd lost 20 from her pension when she's shopped in his store earlier that day. (He did, of course, return the money to her).

On another occasion I found a 10 note outside a sub post office. I handed it in to the manager, who insisted on taking my name and address. Three months later I received a letter, by registered post, containing the unclaimed tenner.

Chris

PS: Perhaps Elvis68 should stick to posting in the News section? That seems to be where all the other racists and xenophobes hang out.
Hi Chris - yes, that was good of you, and I'd have done the same.
Elvis is fine really - just having a bit of fun.
