I'm about to finish the Da Vinci Code. It's the first Brown book i've read, and I'm absolutely loving it - thanks to everyone who recommended it. I'd love to read another book by Brown - anyone recommend a good one to carry on with?

As far as I can see from the flyleaf of his books, Dan Brown has also written Deception Point, Digital Fortress, Angels and Demons.

I've almost finished the first in that list - try it if you like US political plotting

Further to my earlier answer, try www.danbrown.com where you will find info on all the books, including plot summaries and extracts.

I gather Angels & Demons is good, and it is on my to-read list.  It has the same main character as Da Vinci.

I read The Davinci Code and thought the same as you, what more can I read from this fella, then I read the back few pages of the book, y'know, where you get the "Also by" adverts of other books by the same author.

It seems that all of his books have a strong femal lead, and a man who is a cryptograher/symbologist/codebreaker.

One trick pony ?................
I read Angels and Demons before Da Vinci Code and I think that it is better, the beginning is slower to get going, but the middle and end is absolutely fab.  I haven't read the other two yet but I can definitely say read Angels and Demons.
I enjoyed all four.  Deception Point is more Tom Clancey-ish than the other three which are puzzle-orientated thrillers.  If one grabs you, I think they all will.  I'm looking forward to his next one
yes must agree enjoyed them all especially Demons..having been to Rome it was interesting to see the places from a new angle

Once you've read one, you'll be able to work out the bad guy in the others pretty early on. I've read Da Vinci and Angels and Demons and frankly have no great need to read the same book a third or forth time, despite enjoying the ones I have read. Angels and Demons is a good choice if you like Langdon, but don't expect to be surprised by the plot too much.

Dan Brown writes a great page turner, but great literature it is not. Apalling characterisation, dire dialogue and very very formulaic. Many other people have said to me that the books are very formualic.

Well, going back to the Davinci code, what did u think of the romantic angle he played at the end, it seems to tacked on for the hell of it, it just wasnt needed.

It was like Langdon turned into Joey from Friends - Hey, we just solved the mystery of the Holy Grail ..... how YOU doin !!!!

Angels and Demons was my favourite. Da Vinci code is good but too similar. Deception point is also good, but not as good as the first two mentioned. And Digital Fortress is slightly poorer than the rest. This was the first one he wrote.

Angels and Demons is an excellent book though. Thats the one to read

I made the mistake of reading all 4 back to back. I read the Da Vinci code first and thought it was an absolute cracker, Deception Point next which I thoroughly enjoyed but then I think it went a little downhill. Digital Fotress was very disappointing an I found Angels & Demons quite enjoyable however very similar to the Da Vinci code. Don't make the same mistake as me and overdose on Dan Brown!

Angels and Demons was written before Da Vinci Code and features the same main character and a similar story, but is much better.  Deception Point is a good read and focuses on a scientific angle, whilst Digital Fortress is about code-breaking.

Once you've read the books, visit the author's official website for some photos of locations/places that feature in his stories.

I am now reading The Rule of Four by Caldwell & Thomason which is similar to Da Vinci.

I forgot to mention that The Works are selling all Dan Brown's books at a bargain price of 3.99 each
I couldn't put the Da Vinci code down and have now tarted to read Angels and Demons.  I haven't yet finished but have enjoyed it so far and would recommend it.
