Another stupid question from the old fool. Have got a couple of gadgets which talk about formatting the card etc. What is it and why must I have to do it or what happens when I don`t. Sorry for being such a pain TIA

you format a disc, memcard etc to create the "boxes" to pur your files into

with memory cards it's done in the factory ... and you shouldn't need to do is ... just delete the files when you transfer them ... and that's good enough.

unfortunately memory tends to corrupt quite often ... so the re-format option is a way of resetting the card.

basically if it 'aint broke ... don't fix it
