Has anyone watched Celebrity Eggheads! Last night it was Nicky Campbell and his Watchdog team etc,{didn't win} tonight it was Newsreaders etc, Bill Turnball etc, all very well educated people {didn't win] Doesn't it all boil down to general knowledge, I don't think you need a university degree to take part in quiz shows just good all round streetwise knowledge!! And CJ's expressions were more prominent, the thought of TV Personalities beating him was beyond reproach!!

yes i watched todays episode with the newsreaders. CJ does my head in, hes so arrogant and he knows it which makes him even more arrogant!! im making myself angry now jus thinkin about him!

But CJ makes the programme. It's like John Macenroe at tennis. Everyone said they didn't like him but were secretly hoping he would lose his temper.

None of the others have any personality about them and it would be a dry show if CJ ever left.

I often wonder if CJ is really that arrogant or does the producer get him to act up. Daphne and him seem to get on and she sometimes talks about him going places with her and her husband. Would the husband really want someone like that tagging along? I'm sure he is told to pull those faces and play to the camera, no-one can be that awful-can they?

The thing that has always annoyed me about this programme is the way the Eggheads seem unable to give just the answer - but have to give some detailed explanation to show how clever they are.
I know someone who knows CJ - he's just as bad off screen apparently!!

yes junkman, and they seem to want the contestants to do it aswell! To pad out the show I guess.What annoys me most is the presenters 'script' which barely varies - although Jeremy Vine managed to do a bit more with it. My OH shouts at the TV every time they say 'you're playing for something that money can't buy - the eggheads reputation.

Junkman - The producers ask the eggheads to be wordy in their answers to show off their knowledge.

It annoys me when the contestants do the same though.

Question: "what is 2+2". Options : 3, 4, 5
Contestant: "Ah well going back to my maths days, I seem to recall that two is an even number, and so two of these numbers should provide an even result........." and so on.

Mary - It does not follow educated people make good quizzers, it is very often not the case. They may be good at their own academic subjects but lack any general knowledge.

I noticed they held Tanni Grey-Thompson back for the final yesterday as her teammates were saying how good she was. When it came to it, she was clueless.
