Thanks to the help I had yesterday I have now completed all except one corner. If anyone can help with these I shall be very grateful.

Yes, brilliant, thank you. Why didn't I think of that! It does, however, mean that I had one wrong.
17d Die in a limited rising (9) a - c - n - - - t I thought it was either ascending or possibly ascension but now that the t is there I was obviously wrong.
