Make it easy on yourself and your purse. CUT DOWN.

Light a cig, have one puff and put it out. Repeat when desperate again. Keep with the system and the spaces between should get longer. If it helps, suck a pencil.
My husband gave up using Champix last year. He said it was relatively easy, and he'd tried and failed several times before. He's been 'tobacco free' for 14 months now.
Good luck cherrybea.

So it worked for your husband anagram? Thats great! I'll try cutting down for a few weeks and if that dont work I'll get the Champix.
Hi - I used Champix to stop smoking a year ago. In fact it was a year this last Monday. I have stopped using acupuncture and patches in the past, but the Champix made it relatively easy to stop and it has definitely been a lot easier to stay off. I've had no weight gain or any of the other problems I had when I tried before. I think Champix is great and highly recommend it. Also, I have never understood the cutting down, pretending to yourself method - I either smoked a pack a day or more, or I didn't smoke at all. Luckily Champix worked for me. Good luck.
My heavy smoker son has just moved to a new place and it is helping him a lot than patches and the like...

It's on the 15th floor of a no smoking high rise.......
Read the book 'how to give up smoking' by Alan Carr.

It's a bit repetitive but gets you thinking in a different way.
Some programs insist that "giving up" is the wrong way to approach quitting smoking. "Giving up" means thay you are forgoing something desirable. Change your mindset to quitting smoking in order to gain better health.
I'll tell you how to stop smoking.FRIGHT. I had a problem with walking, I could walk about 100 yards & I would have to rest because of pain in the calf muscles of my right leg,I was examined & told that my right Femoral Artery was partially blocked & was not allowing enough blood to reach the Calf muscle ,I had to have the Artery cleared in hospital & was told that if I did not stop smoking there was a strong possibility that I could face leg amputation. That was in 1992 & I kid you not I gave up & have never smoked since.I know it's not easy but please do try to give up (try the chewing gum) Ron.
