At this historic moment in time, I feel compelled to put down in writing and share my thoughts with you. Over the past week or so, I / or we have witnessed several ground breaking and historic events, created and involving our people.
(a) The Stanford 20 - 20 for twenty million dollars, would be won by the Stanford superstars, giving little known West Indies cricketers, an opportunity to change theirs and their families lives for good.
(b) Lewis Hamilton becoming the youngest, and first Black person to win the Formula 1 championship. In doing so suffering long suspected racial abuse from his co drivers, teams, and certain elements of a fan base in several countries.
(c) Barak Obama becoming the first Black man to succeed to the white house.
(d) Jo Wilfried Tsonga won the French Masters.
They have all achieved the unthinkable, against all odds. They have succeeded where in the past, it would have been unconceivable for them to have been even considered to be on the first step to their ultimate goals.
Funny-it is a shame others do not share your pride in those who have achieved so much. As an American of a certain age, I know what you mean by 'the unthinkable'.
I can say that for the first time in a long time-I too am proud-of my country.
If we whites had ever experianced what Blacks have thru history-then maybe some would have more understanding of the significance of these events.
A person can have all the talent possible-but it can mean nothing without opportunity.
Extremely happy,funny.........so many say-"wow...it has only taken 40yrs....." I am thinking "why'd it take so long?".......Next-a woman-lol
as I said-proud at the moment....will be great to have someone with charisma and intelligance in charge.
whats the big deal about a black man becomming president. its pathetic. u dont see the jews campaigning to rule germany do u? because they have self respect you see.
