Teehee!

Posting Links: A good way to do it, which has always worked for me, is to paste/type the link, hit return (so that it activates as a hyperlink), select the whole address and type something over it (like the name of the site). For instance, if I wanted to link to google, the result would be this: Google.

Regarding getting back to categories after being in your profile - this happens to me sometimes, too. Clicking on a category just loads my profile page again. But I usually find clicking around somewhere else enables me to start loading the category pages. This is obviously a bug in the system, but it's been here for many months. I agree it should be fixed by now.

Adverts: A long standing problem which is probably due to an over-excitable Advert Blocking programme at your end. Experiment with temporarily turning the function off (possibly as part of a virus checker or maybe an external browser programme) or add this site to an "Allow" list.

Specifically, I've just worked out that I think that when you say your links don't post properly, you mean some gremilin puts in
are the end of your link so that they don't work. Obviously it's another bug in the system, another one that hasn't been fixed. The method above will solve it. And for the ones you've already posted, click on the link and then remove the
from the end.

Thanks Indie, you are a nice person. As you say, the workarounds normally work.

The link was to an answerbank page and I got the " this page cannot be displayed message, even though I had just displayed it to cut and paste the link.

Logging out and logging in sorts the getting out of my profile thing.

I don't much care about viewng the ads section, except the office boy has just moved one of my questions to there. I have tried disabling all my protection, but no joy

What rises up my left nostril is the principle. The internet is the only ?facility, ?area of modern life ?thing in my house, where its "okay" if something doesn't work as it should because "thats a bug and we're working on it" I mean would you expect that from your TV or the broadcaster or your fridge (sorry sore point).

Speaking as an expert user, rather than a techie, there almost seems to be a culture that says that its desireable to have bugs and bug fixes because that's "real computing" in the same way that push starts on motorbikes were looked down on because "real bikes" had kick starts.

Anyway, that's my monday grumble out of the way

We could ALL resort to using Macs with the same OS and software...but we love the flexibility of not doing this. Web development is really quite hard, receiving and publishing posts together with a user database is not as easy as it looks, but getting it all to work properly where the clients have different browsers....for good reason it's a battle against the bugs.

just get a "page not found" message
However, you can get into the site by copying the address into your address bar. Not as if it will make any difference to me. I can't understand anything technical!

Dear Users

Thank you for your posts.

This problem has been forwarded to our technical department who will look into further.
