How to enable Java Script?

Hi Lately a couple of websites mainly BBC iPlayer and You Tube say "For the best possible listening experience, please enable JavaScript." I know that I have it as I always download the latest version but how do I enable it? I have looked through recent AB answers on the subject and all is enabled in Java script applets and even in the one above as recommended active scripting so where do I go from here?

Dont confuse Java with Javascript.

Even though they have the name "Java" in them they are two totally different things.

When you say you have downloaded the latest version that is Java you are talking about, not JavaScript.

Done all this 5 or 6 times same result,
not complete novice, just can`t get enabled even though it is.
