The mind has great power to heal physical problems which is how magical or occult methods work.
The problem is that unscrupulous people can also control your mind whilst attempting the cure. Therein lies the danger.
By all means seek alternative healing but continue with conventional medicine as prescribed by your doctor.
I agree with the answers above.
From a Christian perspecitve, dabbling in the occult for healing or fortune telling or whatever, is dangerous as it opens the door to demonic influences.
Of course, if you don't believe in the spiritual realm, of the opposing forces of good and evil, then my comments will be meaningless to you, but just trying to help.
I'm not convinced the mind has much power to heal in the true sense.
It certainly has a great power to shut off pain so for that perspective it has the power to "heal" chronic pain conditions.
Again shutting off pain allows people in many cases to persue activities that they otherwise couldn't and getting exercise certainly can improve people's conditions.
And it certainly is the only cure for conditions like alcoholism or drug dependency.
I'm however unaware of anybody who recovered from AIDS or Hepatitus by meditation
If you believe in the occult and whatnot, there's probably a good chance you'll do yourself an injury, just so as to justify your irrational behaviour.
