Hi there,
My son has recently been diagnosed with tourettes. The Dr. suggested magnesium tablets that MIGHT help with the tics. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this and if it helped.
Obviously the biggest part of his treatment will be management but we would like to try this.

Thanks

I suppose your son's tics are one step on from the repetitive movements that my autistic son does. We've managed to control these, to a greater degree, by having our "secret word" whenever he starts it. We make light of it, and grin when we say the word, but it's a reminder for him to try and refrain from making these movements. Over time, he's managed to control himself most of the time, but if he's watching TV or concentrating on something, the movements still become almost involuntary on occasions. We refrained from medication, and our son, who'll soon be 9, now manages brilliantly with his disability, but it takes an enormous amount of time and patience. I hope your son finds something to help him. x
