i know that this is femented cabbage,but what exactly would you say it tastes of and what can you do with it?

It tastes kinda like a sour pickle....I cut up weiners and onions and saute in butter untill brown and then add the saurkraut and let it all get hot. Voila: Saurkraut & Weiners!! YUM-O!

damn,a mix review there i think ill just have to try it myself and see whether i like it! cheers peeps!
I bought a jar of Polish relish which is
beetroot and horseradish ..lovely with
a salad or in a sandwich ....
i liked it when i was in germany, like pickled red cabbage, but warm and er, white!!
You could peel and slice about 4 medium potatoes and 2 medium sized onions, put in a large pan with some smoked sausage cut into chunks and a jar of sauerkraut add about 2 cups of water salt and peppers, leave to simmer on low heat for around 1 1/2 hrs - 2hrs. serve with some fresh crusty bread. mmmmmm it's a meal in itself really comforting on those wet and cold horrible days like today
