I was thinking that myself Brachiopod. I don't think it was though, if it was he looked awful, I think Sir Bob would have mentioned him, coz he mentioned the guitarist. Plus if it was, he didn't have his trade mark convict outfit on. Good question though, had me guessing aswell.
I didn't pay a lot of attention to Bob Geldof (he's NOT "Sir" by the way) so I don't know who the pianist was but "Fingers" used to wear striped pyjamas not a convict's outfit.

Ok, pedant.

So Geldof has an honorary knighthood and not being a British subject and can not use the title 'Sir'.

I was going to say 'Saint Bob', so I guess you would have helpfully pointed out that he has not yet received his full sainthood?

Bracio I instantly thought it was he.  I can't be sure either but he looked exactly the same in posture as in the vid originally, just lots older.

But as Lou says above, you would have thought he'd have got a mention !

Oh well, perhaps it was edited out, but from the brief shots we saw, it did look like him. At leastI wasn't the pnly one thinking it !!

Cheers all.

It was'nt him, i caught the original video of I don't like Mondays this morning on one of the music channels and it definitely isn't him cos i was wondering the same thing.
Brachiopod, ma name's THECORBYLOON, not pedant........

If the cap fits......

Actually, THE CORBYLOON, I once saw 999 (the band) in Corby, c.1978/9? I think that was back in the days before they'd stopped strip mining the iron ore, let alone closed the steelworks.

(And in case you think I'm taking the P, I'm from South Wales, so I know all about mines shutting down and steel works closing !!!)

Afternoon brachiopod, I hope I don't come across as being a pedant but it just annoys me when Bob Geldof is called "SIR."

Reading your latest reply I wouldn't have thought you were taking the mickey in the slightest. I cant say I've heard of "999" let alone seen them but yes that would have been before the Steelworks closed.

(we wear bunnets not caps btw-soz couldn't resist)

I thiught the same too, but convinced myself it wasnt. As an anecdote, I too am from South Wales and used to provide stage lighting and electrical assistance at local authority events. The Boomtown Rats were appearing at Sophia Gardens and I was stage left, a spotty young man eager to be near rock artists. I was standing in the wings on call for any electrical malfunction, the band were stage right, Johnny Fingers eyeing the massive audience behind the curtain when a hand leant on my shoulder told me to run across stage to tell them we are ready to go on. Naively I ran across stage followed by a spotlight, I turned like a frightened rabbit in headlights to face the tumultuous roar of the audience at the arrival of their idol, I looked stage left only to see Bob Geldof bent over double laughing. Oh how we laughed!!!
