Has anyone tried the Special K diet where you eat 2 bowls of Special K each day for 2 weeks? I would like to kick start my diet and wondered if it really works.

This is an often asked question on AB. The diet works, just like any other diet where you restrict yourself to eating two bowls of any low sugar high fibre cereal. Its just a way for Kelloggs to sell more of their Special K cereal! The problem is that as soon as you stop following any diet you put back on the weight you had lost.
And you are sick of the sight of Special K!!!
You're only allowed a miniscule amount. Better off with porridge which has less sugar and will keep you full for longer.
One of my colleagues tried that diet last year. It did work and she has not gained weight, but have to say, she still watches what she eats.
If you check the facts on the back of the packet and compare it to other cereals in the supermaret, you will find that Special K have a higher calorific content than many other, ordinary cereals.
Michael Winner had the best diet I have ever heard of - eat your normal food - just less of it.
Good luck with your diet.
of course it works you are starving yourself
just to upset the self righteous on here...

try the 'chuck half away before' diet,

have your normal portion size ready and divide it in two and bin one half,

that way you get to stick to a diet because you are still eating the food you enjoy instead of some faddy diet,

a waste they cry!, what about starving people in the world?

post your bin to oxfam
Is it me, or is Special K completely different from when I was a kid?

If I eat Special K will I look like the girl on the ad in the red bikini?

It's a bit unlikely really
I've done it to get that motivational kick sometimes required to get your bum in gear. My jeans did fit better after two weeks but you need to see it as just that - a kickstart, you have to maintain a norml healthy diet wincluding exercise to keep in shape. I didn't eat Special K either, I had bran flakes or something. Eating the same cereal can get boring and hard to stick to so as long as the cereal is low in sugar and high in fibre you should be. Also, the "Special K" diet specifices you shouldn't eat between "meals", but I ignored this and snacked on fruit and veg sticks and still lost the weight. It's not a diet really, just a kick up the bum and something easy to stick to. Good luck and well done for wanting to do something :-)
Blimey, talk about banana fingers. Well done to those of you who could make sense of my last post!
My wife would give me some funny looks
Aha - Panic Button - I've only just joined and saw your question about Special K. Yes it is different from when I was younger too. It was lovely then and the bits were smaller. Now the bits are bigger and it definitely does NOT taste the same. Bring back the original Special K that's what I say. However - I'm still going to try this diet as I believe the more options you have (Weightwatchers etc) the more you think about food and then - the more you eat!!
I tried the Special K Diet and didn't really think it worked that well! I lost some weight but ended up putting it all back on again as soon as I started eating my normal diet. try it though and see what you think.
