I'm running free versions of Zone Alarm and Avast anti-virus. Is this enough for reasonable security ?
If I add Spyware Doctor it seems to conflict and cause 'hanging'. Thanks.

I use Avast, but don't bother with anything else apart from Windows own security and access the internet through a router.

If Zone Alarm works keep it on, but don't bother with Spyware Doctor.
Avast does not have a great detection rate these days and finds a lot of false positives. You would be better with Avira.

Zone Alarm has also gone downhill in a big way, but if it's working for you it's far better than XP's effort, which does not stop malware "calling out" (Vista's firewall does)

For real-time antispyware protection, for free, you can use this.

they shouldn't conflict.
