Hi..hoping someone can help..we're off to Egypt on Monday but haven't booked the in-flight meals as we just don't enjoy them...does anyone know if we can take our own food through customs..for example...sandwichs and crisps..or do we have to buy them at the airport which come prepacked with salad, etc which ours sons won't eat? Please don't advise me to remove said greenery,my boys won't touch anything if the slightest taste or memory lingers on a sandwich!!

You don't go through customs when leaving the country (well you do, but without noticing anything happening usually.) Security are interested in liquids and sharp objects, mainly, not food.

But yes you can take your own sandwiches on a plane. If the country you are going to has strict regulations, you can't take them off at the far end - no idea what Egypt says on this.
