Hi, everyone, I thought I'd post an update on the wee man as I'm really grateful to all of you for your concern.
I'm afraid he's not very well at all. He hasn't eaten anything since Thursday, or had a drink & he was so weak this morning that I took him back to the vet's. She ran some bloods and his potassium levels are very low, which, of course, has caused his muscle weakness. He's staying in overnight again and he's now on a drip to re-hydrate him and get his potassium back to normal. She's going to ring me later, after she's done more tests to check his levels this afternoon. She reckons he'll be OK, but of course, I'm worried. He's very precious to me. Anyway, I'll keep you all posted as to his progress. K

Oh Kleiber love, you must be worried sick!

I know it is little consolation now, but it won't be at all long before Monty is stalking his homeland again, and tormenting his fur and skin families!

How are you flower? x

Thanks, leelapops - I'm OK (I guess!). I can't get into sports AB lately to send any messages to anyone, so that's why I haven't been in touch. Everything here is much the same - rain, rain & more rain, the other animals are fine and the baby chicks have been allowed outside today for the first time and they love it! I'm going to be looking after a friend's elderly golden retriever for a few days at the end of the month, so he's coming round this afternoon to be introduced to the others - I hope they get on OK. I'm sure Elsa will be fine, it's just Jake & the cats!!
Aw you will be fine, it's just a shame you can't take your mind off it in the sun! Don't worry, I know you are a busy bee anyway. Did I give you my email address at all?

I bet they will love a new temporary family member-has the retriever had much c~a~t experience? Jack is still very wary of them; he doesn't half give them what for if they walk across the back wall! He was at the vet yesterday, and even the vet himself commented on how much calmer he is. He used to get so stressed out, so we have seen a vast improvement. I think the treats helped! ;)

I move tomorrow (eek!), and might be offline for a few weeks, but please keep in touch. And keep us updated about Monts too x
oh kleiber hun, ive got everything crossed for monty and cupar and margo send lots of purrs and cat kisses to you both, keep us posted, lots of love mary.xxxxxx(((hugs)))
Sorry to hear that Kleiber - it must be so worrying for you not knowing quite what's wrong. Hopefully the vet can soon get it sorted once and for all and he will shortly be back to normal. Keep us posted won't you?
Flossie and Daisy send purrs

I'm sorry to hear that the little monster is still ill.

I hope that the original problem is resolved and that he will be his usual mischevious pretty soon.

hello frankiecat and princess merlin,.. its cupar and margo here,, we'll have to organise a get well carty for our friend monty to cheer him up.xx
Yes - a carty is what Monty needs. We could make a lot of noise and trash the place - and get a C-ASBO.

Cats and dogs are so miserable when they are ill.

One of mines will be 'ill' when I find out who has used the new tray of cat grass seedlings for a toilet (or just digging).
Oh Kleiber - so sorry to hear wee monty's not too well at the mo.

Just logged on now - after attempting to clean the pond out - huge froggy in there that got into my net (gave me quite a fright!!!) - then he hopped it towards pup! Pup then legged it away in one direction and froggy bounced away in t'other direction and I took cover indoors for 5 second breather!!!

I,m sure Monty will be fine - but it is such a worry with our beloved family pets.

As always - I have fingers crossed for the wee boy. He will be back with you before you know it - full of life and raring to go. With loadsa love and hugs for Monty - alfie n pup. :o) xxxx
sorry alfieblue just having a good laugh at the froggy situation,....:-)))) margo says pup can come to the carty too as long as he doesnt chase everyone too much.
Keeping my fingers crossed Kleiber for your boy, hope he soon picks up.What a worry for you, don't they pull at your heart strings? at the mo I'v got Rooney pushing his head under my arm whilst on here, Mickey's snoring his head off and boy what a snore and Rastas is looking out of the kitchen window in a leave me alone mood. g.
sorry to here poor montys still under the weather hope you get some good news when you speak to the vet this afternoon
Lol madboutcats!!!! Froggie has gone into the pond again, safe and sound - pup is still looking for it, wondering what the heck it was!!!

Tell Margo pup has promised to be a good boy at the carty - but pup and I don't know what a carty is...... ! He will still be a good boy tho :o))))) xxxxxx (Oh - is it a puddy cat party? - brain is just starting to function!!!!) xxx

Hey, all, get ready for a carty soon!! Just heard from our lovely vet and she says Monty's mineral levels are almost back to normal. He's had something to eat & drink & she's happy with the way he's going! She's going to phone me in the morning but it looks like everything's on the up and he'll soon be home.
Sad story, though,- on Wednesday, while off to a meeting early (about 7.30am), I found a little tortoiseshell cat at the bottom of our hill, killed by a car. I put her on the grass by the side of the road and rang my vet to let her know if anyone phoned & reported a cat missing. I found out this afternoon that she belonged to some folk I know who live in our village and that she had 4 kittens, only 3 weeks old! I called round to see them and told them, but they use a different vet to me and so still didn't know what had happened to her. I went back & found her body, just where I'd left it and took her home for them to bury. The kittens are gorgeous and are being hand fed at the moment - they're doing fine. There are 2 little black & white ones,(one boy, one girl), a ginger lad and a little tortie female. Unfortunately, they've all got homes to go to, otherwise I'd have had one. Anyhow, I'll let you all know when Monty gets home and to h**l with his diet, he's going to get some nice boiled fish!! K xx
That's very good news about Monty - Flossie and Daisy will be up for a carty. You must be very relieved and will be over the moon to have him back.
Sad news about the other cat. I hate seeing animals killed at the side of the road as I know they must be someone's pet and that that person will be wondering where they are. I've lost one in that way myself and it's horrible.
It was a sad week here as my mum's cat died suddenly, probably of heart failure as he had a heart murmer. My mum is nearly 80 and that cat meant the world to her so she's very upset at the moment.
Anyway, all the best to you and Monty - give him an extra cuddle from me.

Thanks for your lovely replies, everyone - Monty will get lots of hugs from you all when he gets home! Leelapops, good luck with your move (no, you didn't give me your e-mail address, though if you want to, I'd love to have it!).
Yes, sad about the wee cat, she was only 9 months old herself (although I do wonder about people not getting their cats spayed & letting them have kittens so young. Still....) - God only knows why she was out at night & not at home with her babies!
glad to hear montys starting to feel better and fingers crossed its even better news in the morning. my love to your mum bensmum, my mums in her 70s and big ginge means the world to her, she'l be lost too when his time comes. bigmamma can porches (ive spelt that wrong havent i) come to the carty to keep alfieblues pup company cant have the cats hogging the cateoke all night....:-))))
Question Author
Elsa & Jake will be at the carty, so there's no reason why Porsche & pup can't be, too!! If Jack wants to come as well, he'll be welcome.
Bensmum, I'm so sorry to hear about your mum's cat - that's the thing I'm dreading, when I'm old(er) and Monty & Cleo cross the Rainbow Bridge - I'll be devastated. Romy & Cassie are nearly 11 now, but I'm hoping to have the two youngsters for at least another 15 years & by that time, I'll be in my dotage. I won't get any more after them, because I would worry what would happen to them when I finally go to join Mr. K.
Flossie is practising for the cataoke even now. She usually starts "singing" at about 4.30am these days so she should be in fine form!
