If you are reffering to making your number private so nobody can identify who the caller is, then no it cannot be traced back to you. However, for example if you were to commit a serious criminal offence, and the police had reason to believe it was you they could contact your network provider to track where you were at the time of the offence, what calls you made and who they were to.

Hope that helps.

Be carefull with using 141 on mobiles. Some have pre-settings eg Own Number witholding - Set by network. Just inase.
Saintly is right, and wrong.  I have a friend who was plagued by nuisance calls.  She went to BT and they were able to trace the calls to a mobile phone number.  The police became involved and with very little fuss managed to track down the weirdo.
