When I had them in my student digs (many years ago!) I just waged war with salt and slugpellets. Its a bit messy to clear up, but by the end of a week I'd got rid of them.
Eeuugh!! I sypathise with you- same thing happened to me a couple of years ago.
I sprinkled slug pellets all round the outside of the house- they were bright blue if I remember, and that did the trick x
Best to find their way in and put down pellets, salt is too messy.
Just a second thought..... any plants in the room? They could be hiding in there.
I found one in my dishwasher once!

Fook knows how it got in there, but slug pellets are better than salt
You must have a damp spot or they're coming in thru an outside door where the wood has rotted? Paint all wood with cuprinol but only outer side (NOT INSIDE, or u wont breathe easily). Paint cuprinol outside on the brickwork below the damp course. Keep the inside of the house aired and warm. Slugs hate dry heat! Salt for quick kill is cheaper than any other products.

Thanks everyone! I will try pellets, just have to watch our cats. We have a little kitten at the moment, so it will be a little tricky. Last night (about 2am :-( I found big slug in my kitchen, just want to cry as I never experience anything like that before. So, fingers cross and I will follow yours advices. Thanks everyone.
I had the same problem at uni. We got rid in 2 ways.

Firstly a deep sided dish filled with beer- a beer trap. they cant resist (esp Budwieser), and fall in and drown.

Secondly we sprinkled a good band of salt across the threshold of the doors and windows. If a slug tries to tocuh it they will either recoil and not come in, or dissolve!
Took about 4days to get rid for good.

I sprinkled salt on the carpet!!

Apparently slugs hate salt. I also put some on my door step and back door step.
I sympathise - Oh how I sympathise - am really interested to note answers too.

We have slugs in the kitchen (keep finding them in the cat food/cat water) its DISGUSTING and I HATE IT. Feel really squeemish and am getting real OCD about all the slime trails. Have blocked all holes I can find around washing machine/outside wall pipes etc but they keep coming in and they're HUGE and have, like a pattern on them..... have tried copper bands/salt/slug pellets. HELP! Its a South London curse!!! BRING BACK ALL THE HEDGEHOGS!!!
