Can anyone tell me why the majority of houses have 13 steps on the stairs?

because for safty and comfort reasons there are recomended/enforced raiser heights and tread depths and if you build a staircase to these specs and the take into consideration the standard ceiling height of 8" it works out to 13 steps

yes I am very knowledgeable, I just hope nobody notices I just said a standard ceiling height is 8 inches (8") rather than 8 foot (8')
