I am in my mid twenties (female) and have lived in the town where i am now for 10 years. After school friends went their seperate ways...off to uni..moved etc...as you do.
The area where i live is not a city or a big town...
The thing is as i have got older my intersets lay in the arts etc and i enjoy going out to the theatre, shows, concerts or a nice bar or restaurant. However, the poeple that are my friends who still live here prefer to go to the local nightclub, down vodka, get a kebab and then watch people wandering around throwing up before getting a taxi home with the aim of being leggless....with no ever deviation from it.
Unfortunately this is not really my idea of a good time..
I just wondered if other people had ever felt that way and if so how did you go about meeting more like-minded people...should i go and do these things because its what some other people my age are doing?

Or you could join a mutual interests group. I'm sure if you do a quick search on the internet you'll find forums that enjoy what you do and you'd be able to make friends with similar interests that way.
Hi sam, I was going to suggest what CD said also :)

Friendship is about compromise to me, so perhaps if you go out once in a blue moon, some of your existing local friends might join you in something different, and maybe enjoy it so much they will do it again with you!

I am 22 and the least party-y person I know! I love a good time, and if I am in the mood, I will go out and enjoy myself. But I hate "town" in general (i.e. going round all the bars and clubs watching people make ar5e5 of themselves and start fights with strangers, and having drinks spilt all over me) so it is rare I bother. My friends all know this, but that said, I have a mix of friends who all like different things.

If you go to these places with someone, you could start conversations with people already there, and find things you have in common.

xx
