Been to see physio today and was told that my SPD means that I may have problems giving birth naturally as I can only open my legs to 40cm (my pain threshold in labour position). She gave me other positions, but these could get labourous!

She said that the consultant (who I see on monday) may favour a C-section as for the reasons of having one before and to limit the damage to my hip that can occur during labour with SPD!

All seems to be against me at the moment! But a part of me thinks that I should stick to my guns and try for a natural birth.... or do I let them decide and accept it's for the best???

Baring in mind that an epidural isn't an option as I will freak out and have a panic attack!

Whats your thoughts? :0(((

Aaawwww, hun! Sorry it isn't going to plan! If it is any consolation, I had a caesarean then a natural birth after and I would much prefer another caesarean! Lol!
I think you should follow what your consultant says, I know it may not be what you want but at the end of the day he will be advising what is best for you.
Another thing, my caesarean scar is so irritable now after having a natural labour, it was never like this before, feels itchy on the inside, if that makes sense and my son (natural labour) is now 4 x

Ye, you're right in thats they will know bets.

It's just really upsetting when the last c-section was under general and I can't remember the first few hour or more with my son, my hubby tells me, but I don't know what went on.

It might sound really silly, but I wanted what the pictures of births look like... me holding a bundle in my arms (after all that huffing and puffing) with my hubby to the side!

I'm glad you had a good experience though, it does make me feel better to know they can be positive!
I think it was more that I had such a bad experience with my natural labour! Can you not have your caesarean under local? x

I don't think I could stick being awake, I am petrified of having epidural! Maybe I need not worry and all will be well on monday in my appoinment for a natural!

All a worry x
Awww, Andrea sorry that you didn't get the news you wanted at your appt. Is there any sort of therapy like hypnotism or something that might help you through your fear of needles? xx
That's a disapointment then andrea - I remember that you really wanted to avoid a section this time. If you remember, I am the one that had two 13 months apart - 1 emergency and one planned. If you can, I would really recommend trying to get some support so that you can have a epidural/spinal. I had this for both my sections, and your images of having the baby handed to you for you to enjoy are more or less the same as a normal birth. They lift the baby up over the screen for you to see, conduct the usual quick checks and hand it back to you, you then lie in recovery for a little while with your baby, before going up to the ward. For me that would be the best preparation, rather than trying for a normal birth, then ending up in the situationw here you need to be knocked out again. At least, if you try to deal with the epidural, if you do try without a section, and it becomes necessary, you could then have the epidural.

The epidural for me, is a much less scary prospect than being knocked out - it is strange how we are all different isn't it?

Incedentally, I had sacroilliac hip disfunction as well, which did not help during labour, as there were very few positions that I could adopt without passing out because of the pain in my hips - that probably contributed to the need to have a section as well.

Morning all, woke up this moring thinking I might feel better, but not really! Me and hubby had a good chat about things and we're going to try to forget about it until we have our consultant appt this monday.

Plan is telling them what I want as an 'ideal' and see what they come up and then accept it! No tears or tantrums! Just hope that if I have to have epidural, that there are things they can do to support me, must find these all out! Maybe making a list of questions!

Like my hubby said... as long as the baby comes out happy and healthy! I know he's right! x x x

Cheers Nat and Annie ;0)

Hi Andrea, sorry you don't feel better this morning. I think it's a good idea to decide what you want, put everything else to the back of your mind until Monday and then tackle it all then; it's good that your husband can support you through this, it must be hard for them too being so helpless. Mine said how nervous he was for me yesterday before I had the sweep - Lord knows what he'll be like during labour! LOL

Are you in work today?

I had another show this morning, there was no blood in it so I am not getting excited, but I guess it shows things are moving in the right direction. About flipping time too, I don't really want to have to be induced and if it hasn't arrived by Weds then I will have to be.

What a flippin' headache these littlun's cause us eh? x

Mornign Nat

Ye, it's so nice having supportive partners, but I have to say, last time hubby was a bit of a nervous wreck but tried to hide a lot of his nerves! He seem a bit more in control this time, so it's making me feel a bit more focused!

I should be in work today, got to conduct an interview, but really not in the mood! Thats later today so will try and chill out this morning!

Sounds like you are getting all the right signs though, I really don't think it'll be long for you! How exciting Nat! x x x x x x
HI andrea, I too was warned about the difficulties I may have during labour although yours must be much worst as they never mentioned a c section to me. I was just told I wouldnt be able to get into some normal positions such as laying on my back with my legs up during pushing. I gave birth laying on my side ( with my boyfriend holding my leg up bless him lol)

As for the epidural, I had one for my first labour despite having a huge fear of needles. Luckily, as its in the back, you dont see anything (this is what Im worst with). If their worry for you having a natural labour is because of the damage that may occur, discuss with them the best position for you and then take some time to think about whether you could go through with the epidural if it had to come to that rather than the c section.

Hi Psy
I think the thought of an epidural is worse, but I can only have that if I'm having a c-section. Apparently having it during normal birth wont be an option as I might damage my hips without realising.

I think that the reason they mention c-section is because I've already had one, I don't think the SPD is particularly bad, as to why I really think I cope with a natural birth! I will definatly discuss my options though!

I'll let you all know x x x x x
