belkin wireless router

i have connected my leads as shown to mt modem and desktop to go wireless on my laptop but the laptop is not picking it up im am on vista when switch laptop on says not connected to any network please help asap

The wireless may not be switched on.
Assuming set up correctly,
Turn modem on, leave for one minute.
Turn router on, leave for one minute.
Now turn your laptop on, and connect with a cable (ethernet cable). Then go to the router's settings pages on 192.168.2.1 and check that wireless and wireless security (WPA) is turned on.
