Getting Euros abroad

With the rate of Euros as rubbish as it is at the minute would it be any better to get them from the destination country, i.e. Ireland?

The only problem with that is you don't know what rate the bank are giving you and what they're charging you til you get home!
shouldn't make much difference - if the pound is weak here, it's weak everywhere.

Yes, thank you - never thought of cheque cashing places, will give them a whirl.

If you have a Nationwide or Post Office current account debit card, using the ATMs abroad is by far the best bet - and no charges.
I'm surprised at the difference, legend. (M&S website I can see says 1.2242 but still a big gap.) So why aren't foreign exchange specialists making millions out of this?
