My son aged 10 insists that he cannot use his knife and fork in the correct way, i.e. knife in the right hand and fork in the left hand. He is right handed. Should I be encouraging him constantly to use his knife and fork correctly or is this something that is acceptable?

Your right legend hardly anyone sits down to a meal at the table anymore!!!

I wouldn't encourage him to change the way he holds his knife and fork he's obviously comfy using it the way he is. My sis is left handed but she uses her knife in her right hand but does everything else with her left hand *weird*

Not for a left-hander!

I understand that. My point was that the person who posed the question need not feel that her child is doing something wrong.
I use it this way because it is easier to use the knife with the leading hand,

However, please do not think I disagree with your statement. :)

Think what you will. See from my last post that I do not necessarily disagree with you.
Good table manners are paramount, as stated earlier, not enough meals taken at the table now, irrespective of place settings.
Logging off for the eve now. Best wishes to all.
:)
There is a big difference in a child who doesn't know how to use a knife and fork and one who uses them in the opposite hand.

It's not a problem, it just feels comfortable! I have always eaten kack-handed and so does my son! Nothing to do with how we 'never ate at the table'!

We have family meals every day!
I'm just chuckling to myself after reading all the replies + Dzintra's answers! It's as if she's saying "ok, right, I get it , now shut the **** up! No offence Dzintra!
Just logging off and saw your post andrea81. Glad you all eat however you like.Same here. My comment (as a folow-on from earlier ones ) re eating at table should really read family mealtimes. We too have those every day. We don't even have a table! Best wishes!
What a load of balls legend I do most things right handed some things I can do left and right handed and some things I can only do left handed.

As you will find out in mallorca soon.

I can only play guitar left handed that is if I played guitar but I am talking about an air guitar.

Seriously if I pick a guitar up I hold it naturally left handed and heres a pick that was taken in the blues bar mallorca.
