Why is Good Friday called GOOD Friday? Surely it should be called anything but good! Also why is Easter so early this year, it couldn`t come at a worse time for holidays. May is the best time. Especially this year.

Its actually a derivitive of the original Gods friday meaning that this was the day that Jesus, allegedly returned to God, being crucified on that day.

Most people seem to think that Easter is all about chocolate and bunnies whereas the Christian church (and I am by no means religious) perceive Easter Sunday as the second most important day in their calendar.
its earliest its been since I think 1913. its just first full moon after 20March. In 3 years time easter will be on 23rd April.
can I ask why is this in tv?

Thankyou all for these informative answers, and to the post by 4getmenot .... I couldn`t find a post for religion, ok?
Mmmmm yer ok, but its over there <<<< under society and culture. I wasnt sure whether it was because you heard someone saying about why is good friday good on TV, because I'm sure I heard it somewhere and I cant remember where
Also you cant have easter in may cos there are already 2 bank holidays!!
4getmenot, it was Becky in Corrie who thought it was a silly name for the day!
tigersam any Christian worth his or her salt would in fact regard Easter as THE most important day, not the 2nd most.
