white tongue

Sometimes I've noticed when i'm feeling a little off colour, that my tongue first thing in the morning looks whitish, why is this?

I think it's plaque. Not sure though.

I get that,buy a tongue scraper,plastic about �1 and scrape your tongue just twice a week,you should see all the yuk that comes off,also swoosh mouthwash after.

OOPS I forgot, If its a really thick coating it could be thrush,just a thought,you'll need to see your GP about that.

  what you will find that some mornings it can be worse than others, ' specially if you've had an indian/ chinese the night before,,, the 'ammount of ughy stuff can vary,,,,what i do,regulary, with,without my tongue being in that state, is to squeeze a little toothpaste, onto a spare, hard toothbrush and standing in front of mirror, tongue well out, and brush away,.... take your own time, you may feel a little retchy, but it does come off, and your tongue resumes to that pinkish colour,,, remember tho to always give the toothbrush a good clean swill afterwards, as already said, you'll be supprised at what does off,,, most folk remember their teeth, the tongue is impotant too.

I'd always heard that it was a sign of dehyrdation.I also read somwhere that it can indicate that your good bacteria in your gut is a bit on the low side.So try some water and those little probiotic drink things like yakult or actimel.

few years back i had this, i had sore throat etc, the white on my tongue that was there all day for days on end was a virus/fungus. the doctor gave me dissolvable tablet things that sit on ur tongue. it went shortly after. if its this its nothing to do with sexual activity like thrush, just bacteris from being ill. does that help? go see you doc!

Thrush does'nt have to be aquired through sexual activity. It can be brought on by eating and drinking dairy produce ( Babies get it in their mouths) and also antibiotics can leave a person with thrush both in the mouth and down below.
