White Tongue And Bad Taste In Mouth

One of my friends said that they have had a bad taste in their mouth for around 5 days now and they noticed yesterday that their tongue has gone white.

I've tried googling these symptoms but it brings ups loads of things ranging from oral thrush to cancer.

Has anyone had this and what was the outcome/treatment? They're going to call 111 but would be interested to know others thoughts. Cheers

No I have never knowingly had white tongue.
Calling 111 after only 5 days is ridiculous.
It is no big deal and one should clean the white area with a toothbrush and make sure there are no signs of dehydration.
Monitor the situation for a week and if there is no improvement then it may indicate a fungal or bacterial infection and then...only then..seek medical advice.
It is not cancer.

Thanks Sqad.

No harm in asking...
I get this sometimes.... its probably an oral fungal infection. There is a gel you can get called Daktarin which clears it up and is available otc from the chemist. If that doesn't clear up then your next stop is the dentist or GP
It is a sign of dehydration.
It can be a consequence of the body detoxing. When I've done water fasts in the past I've had white tongue and altered taste sensation.
