Hi I need to open my son who's 10 nearly 11 a bank account but having looked through them all I don't have a clue which one to go with so I was wondering if anyone can suggest one and tell me why they choose the one they did? Thankyou
I opened an account for both my sons when they were about 13 at NatWest. This was primarily because I bank at NatWest and so we didn't have any identity issues, though they still needed to see their birth certificates and passports. Being that slightly bit older than your son they got an account with a cash machine card, but being children they also get interest on their account, albeit not very much.
I suggest the Co-operative Bank. They're thoroughly nice people, and unlike all the other banks, they're not just in it for the profit, because they're a co-operative.
Lloydtsb do a very good young saver account very good interest over 4.5%, plus their staff are as good as the co-op!, all you need is a passport to open. You will get a cash point card and a nice money box. All banks will offer similar things I would prob just go to who you bank with to make it easy for you to open and deal with as its prob you going to pay things in till they get a bit older
