Years ago when I was married ,we opened a bank account for our son who was a few months old.As I was holding the baby at the time in the branch,my ex signed the account as the main name(which I didnt really take it in at the time). Not much was ever put into it,and what little was he took out and spent.Anyway, when son was 2 we split up.Since then I have paid in birthday and xmas cheques from my mum, dad, sister and brother for the last 5 years(approx700). This month I decided to open him a little account with my bank as the old one is nowhere near my home now so i went into old bank to transfer the money and that was when I discovered that my ex was the name on the account. They not only wont transfer it - they wont even tell me how much is in there, even though I have paid in every penny!! My ex apparently has to agree to transfer it to me.So I rang him up and asked about the account and he hung up!! Finally got hold of him and asked if he had spent the money as the passbook is now missing and he denied it.

Have arranged10-15 times now to go to bank with him to sort this and 5 mins before each time I have had a txt saying he cant make it.

Im convinced he has spent the money and is panicking now.

Do I just write this off as bad luck or is there anything else I can do? Im so p***ed off!!

Give him one more chance to turn up with the money or tell him that you're going to report him to the police for fraud. Do you know where he works? I suppose you could always threaten to write to his employer and say you're going to ask for the money to be deducted from his wages. Of course they can't possibly do this but it may scare him enough to produce the money. Sounds to me as if he's sadly already drawn all the money out and spent it.
