Could somebody PLEASE try and explain to me the difference between akanes and alkenes? I am sooooooooo confuddled!

Alkanes are saturated hydrocarbons, whereas alkenes are unsaturated. kThe key difference is thus an alkene has a carbon=carbon double bond., but an alkane does not. This tends to make alkenes more reactive, as the double bond can be made to come apart and latch onto another reagent.

Alkenes is spelt with an E.

Alkenes have a double C bond.
