jesus may well have been black, or at least brown, after all he was a jew, born in the middle east - think of what people from that part of the world look like. He almost certainly did not look like a white european.
Jesus was born a pure middle easterner, so he would have had the same colouring as the present day Arabs, in fact, apart from the religion, there would have been no difference between them.
Not forgetting, that the Etheopian jews mentioned by spacechimp, trace their ancestry back to Solomon and the Queen of Sheba, (her with the hairy legs).
brown rather than black, most likely, but surely not white - that's a north European colour. IaP, I believe the Ethiopians are still in Israel. You can visit one of the villages they left (I did last month; it now houses Christians who sell fairly ordinary handicrafts). They left to get away not so much from war as from persecution by the Mengistu regime, which is what Israel was created for.
Jesus was a Jew. Recheck history such as the Jews Hitler had tortured and gassed. They appear to be light-skinned. Right? Well the Bible says that the Savior would come from the line of Judah. David was in the line of Judah and the Bible says that David was "ruddy" meaning either red-haired or reddish skin. Ruddy does mean red. But it doesn't matter to me if he was purple. The skin color of Jesus seems to matter more to the Blacks.
