The Bullring Shopping Centre in Birmingham have announced that there will be no Santa's Grotto this year as they do not want to offend non Christians. Oxford Street have said the same but said it's due to lack of space - yes all the stores. Thoughts everyone?

I think it is PC gone mad.  Father Christmas has been part of the magic of Christmas for children for a number of years all over Europe and further, yet we have to consider the minority of people who have chosen to live in our lands.  Surely the old saying when in Rome do as the Romas do spring to mind.  I would not expect to go to other countries and expect them to change for me.  I am not a racist but I respect the cultures of a country and in turn others should do the

All,

I am shocked to see that you have all been having this debate about the rights and wrongs of the Bullring "banning" christmas and talking of boycotting it.

Have any of you bothered to find out the truth?  Or were you too busy spouting off your opinion?

Bullring didn't "ban" Santa at all.  THE STORY WAS NOT TRUE. If you had read the follow up reports, the newspaper that "revealved" this "scoop" has actually admitted to falifying this story.  The journalist got the story from someone who didn't even work there.  Bullring was so shocked to hear this story.

Last year at Bullring there was a lazer display of snow flakes, gospel singers, carol singers and much more -and I bet this year will be bigger and better.

So please get your facts straight.  As a Brummie I am so proud of Bullring, and I'm deeply shocked that people would seriously attempt to boycott a place that has done so much for the local community -without checking your facts.  How about boycotting newspapers that fabricate their storys and ruin people's names?
