which is the best way to clean the external filter pipes on my tropical fish tank.

If they're that bad, it'll only cost you a few quid to go to your aquatic shop and buy some new ones.

Failing that, i think you can buy very long wire handled brushes...a bit like you use with home brew for cleaning pipes out

There's plenty i don't know....but i'm learning every day. Have a look on some of the forums such as http://www.uk-aquarist.com/index.php?&act=idx ....lots of people 10 times more knowledgeable then me.

hi hammerman, have you ever heard of baby fish being in the filter, we have had 9 up to now, I have set up a tank for them.

Yes....depending on what species of fish the babies are....some babies get sucked into the filter intake. I had a thriving community of baby guppies in the bottom of my external canister filter once !!!!

Bloody guppies, them and platys were the bane of my fishtank a few years ago!

Them things quicker than a whole lorryload of chavs in sight of the the benefits office.
