Can anyone recommend a good patio cleaner? Our grey patio tiles are now almost black in some parts(possibly with some sort of mould) and I need something that will keep them looking clean again, hopefully for a couple of years at least ! We have tried jet spraying, but is there anything that will last longer ? Many thanks all.

i recently went to a farm shop and bought some hypochlorite solution it is a very strong bleach and it removed the green algae and moss in the cracks on stone paving slabs and on my block paving, just water it down as per instructions and water it on, brush it on stubborn stains then just leave on to dry, it rinses off in the rain.

I also use Sodium Hypochlorite (I believe it's what farmers use to clean milking parlours) but I always hose it off. I dilute it 1:3. It's just fantastic - my yard doesn't get the sun for most of the winter, and by spring is covered in algae (and the dog pe*s there sometimes). I hose the yard, brush of the excess, sprinkle, wait ten minutes while I have a cup of coffee, and bingo!, hose off. It cleans the drains as it runs away.
I use it on wood, concrete, cement and pebbledash and could admire the result for days (what a sad life I have!!). Beats hosing any time.
would it be safe to use on expensive coloured replica flagstone type paving slabs?
I think that Jeyes Fluid would work well for your patio. Follow instrucions on the container. For other gardening hints and tips go to www.egrow.co.uk
