Controversial to say the least. A certain alleged serial killers trial will come to a head on mon. In the face of irrefutable forensic evidence what is your opinion on the Capital P? In whatever form, and would you feel the same if it was someone close to you that had been taken?........I reckon i'm gonna be censored here

I'm the type of person that thinks that people get off likely with crime and would welcome capital punishment. I do realise that there is a line that would need to be drawn in some cases, but a bruital killer that evidence and guilt is evident that that person commited those crimes, then yes!

I also think that to cut down on overcrowding in prisons they should take out TV and desk and put in extra beds per room. Ta da... problem solved!

Angel, i'm glad you answered, I have always been bought up on the old kinda 'when we hung people we never had this' and don't get me wrong, what a deterrent, but then it all came out years later about how it may have been the wrong person etc...i do believe though that within the next 20 yrs it will be completely phased out in the states, i agree, if there if irrefutable forensic evidence then why not!! A lot of people do not agree that taking another persons life = your own life, although i do believe that if it was someone very dear to them they may feel differently. Its controversial, but I would like to hear peeps opinions, so thanks for being the first and bravest.
:O)
P.S i'm not doing it at college or uni or anything, i'm just curious.

The human rights 'people' make me mad with their 'poor criminal' rubbish. I'd like to see them putting some of these people up for a few nights under house arrest. They could even give them coco for bed!

Hey, c'mon now, they m ight miss the most recent episode of 'lost' and be mentally traumatised, think about what you are sentencing them to now! lol
I'm gonna sound very harsh now and do forgive me for saying this, but a thought has always crossed my mind that if we did bring back capital punishment, what would be wrong in making organ donation compulsory in this event!

I'm sure this would help so many problems in organ shortages in this country.

Gosh i'm harsh this morning!
I used to think capital punishment should be brought back until Sadam was killed. At that point I felt very sad that his pain and suffering would end and yet his victims' would continue.

Prison should be punishment. Prisoners should be fed very basic foodstuffs, not permitted visitors or letters etc. I for one, would be happy knowing that prison really was punishment. Depending on the crime of course - not for some poor old lady who couldn't pay her council tax !!!

LOL.......oh my goodness, Sadam's kidney or eyes or anything else - what a thought!

Good idea though.

Good point scoobydooby, I hate the thought of people in jail for silly reasons such as inability to pay tax, when I couldn't even convict a thief who I saw braking into my car and left finger prints! Apparently eye whittness and fingerprints isn't enough in car crime!
Tony Martin was originally convicted of murder which was later reduced to manslaughter. (Many people belive his actions in the killing of the burglar were correct.)

Barry George was convicted by forensic evidence which has now been shown to be unsafe.

Look at the recent collapse of the Sean Hoey trial over the use of low-copy DNA.

There are plenty of cases of misacrriages of justice, just look at www.innocent.org.uk. In my view therefore it would be wrong to reintroduce capital punishment to this country. Even science is not infallible.

100% proof would have to be a must.
so who would you get to prosecute seeing as the police will always make there own evidence.
as in carl bridgewater case birmingham and croydon bombers to name but a few.
100% proof yes , lets give it a try , what we have now is not working , if they are ethnics then ship them back to wherever they came from ,
If not capital punishment , completely strip them of all assets and place them in a no frills prison where they are caged up, fed and watered, I have never been in trouble with the police but from what I have read, prison is run by the in mates and they have access to drugs etc etc etc , how secure is that ?? where they can smuggle in drugs , flippin pathetic............
