Anybody know of a good remedy for an eye stye? I've had one for nearly a month. I've tried over the counter & prescription stuff to no avail. At the moment I'm bathing it with a cotton wool bud soaked in hot as I can stand water trying to bring it to a head. Any ideas anyone? It doesn't hurt at the moment but no pain, no gain.

Ask your pharmacist for "Golden Eye Ointment"
This really is not a wind up. When I was a little girl and had a stye my Mother used to rub it with her gold wedding ring and it got better. Bellringer is also correct in recommending golden eye ointment that is a good old remedy. If stye still persists maybe anti biotics are needed.A month is a long time for a stye to last.
Yes it's true, there is an element in gold that cures styes. i have had them before and that was only thing which worked!! the old wives tale is rub a wedding ring on but any gold works :-)

SPooky - I started rubbing my stye with my wedding ring on Saturday and now it's almost gone! It appeared just before New Year, got bigger and mankier and had stayed put despite using prescribed ointment. Now every day since Saturday it's got smaller and has almost gone. Bizarre!
