Has anyone been on one of these courses?
'm seriously thinking of going on one at my local airport as my phobia is getting out of hand.
They're expensive - over 200 - but it would be worth it if they helped.
Anyone out there been on one, and if so, did it help you?
Thanks

Does this actually include a flight? It'd be a waste of money otherwise, as nothing other than doing it can prepare you for things like the jets thrusting you along the runway, the steep climb and banking, or the way the plane just seems to drop in the sky when it is circling to land.

Just read that back and I've probably scared the "C" out of you more, but really, unless you experience it, nothing can describe it, and more to the point, there really is no need - especially now with all the electronic safeguards - to worry about anything. Aside from the cabin crew selling stuff, waiting for the toilet, and noisy passengers sometimes, flying is great.
Have you tried hypnotherapy? It worked for me

it does include a flight and I have flown quite a lot but am just so scared that I cry all the time! Not pleasant for me or my poor husband who has to confort a quivering wreck for hours. But we do like to go abroad so I'm hoping to somehow get myself under control.
I have also wondered about hynotism so might look into that too.
Thanks for your answers
i'm so terrified of flying that i simply refuse to fly at all now.

id never fancied flying and finally went on a plane for the first time and i realised it was even worse than id always imagined! it was only a short trip to glasgow which my then g.f. treated me too for my birthday but it was 45 mins of extreme terror and waiting to die. it was that bad i wanted to get the train back home but she wouldn't let me.
the next time i flew was to spain with my new g.f., for a few weeks before the holiday i was getting more and more worked up, not sleeping and feeling so sick i couldn't eat. on the morning of the flight i just couldn't go so she had to dope me up with sedatives to get me on. i spent the whole weeks holiday worrying about the flight home so couldn't enjoy myself at all. had to be doped up again to get home.

the missus keeps on at me to try flying courses and hypnosis but i'm having none of it, i'm never setting foot on a plane again, a week in tenby does me fine!
i was worried about our relationship as she loves her holidays abroad and this year she had to go with her sister and the kids while i had a week in the lake district with my brother and his family.
