Here's a question, If I'd been a German Soldier in WW2. And I'd served in these places, to what regiment or army would I roughly belong? Here's the places: Poland, France, preparing for the invasion of England, then Russia, then Normandy in france, and then the German western front in 1945. Thanks

the great survivors, possibly. There can't be many soldiers who lasted through the war; they were having to conscript kids by the end of it.
I met an old German SS soldier when I was stationed in Germany in the 80's, he'd served in Poland, France (he was wounded by the British at Dunkirk and convaleced in Berlin). When he was fit he was sent to the Russian front and ended the war in Berlin.

I joked with him that when he was in hospital in Berlin after being wounded, he would have known my uncle Edward who delivered steel to Berlin during the war. He was puzzled to understand how a Scottish person could deliver steel to Germany at the height of world war 2 until I explained that uncle Edward was a bomber pilot
