Van Helsing Film

Can anyone tell me what the connection was between Van Helsing and Dracula in the film. Watched it the other night but got smashed and missed any explanation of it (if there even is one) and can't be arsed watching it again

It wasn't overtly explained, but it is hinted that VH is (the archangel) Gabriel, and as such has been fighting Dracula (one of Satan's soldiers) for years.

never seen van helsing but it was always believed that van helsing had taken draculas blood and made a serum somehow to prolong his own life with immortality to always be able stop dracula ever rulling the world in the future

Gabriel  mudrered Dracula (this time around, but yes it was hinted at that this was only one round of their battle).  I can completely understand you not wanting to watch it again.  I watched it the other night too (I don't think it was with you!) and I thought it was a great big load of rubbish.

..I mean he murdered Dracula when Dracula was a person... obviously he offed undead Dracula too - that's Hollywood!
