Three weeks ago I was assaulted by my partner. He has ignored all my requests, he is treating our home like a hotel and I am constantly on edge in anticipation of him coming home. He has been staying with a friend for the past 3 weeks but he comes back to the house to taunt me. Apparently, because we are co-owners of the property, there's nothing I can do about it - save getting a court injunction or occupation order which is lengthy and costly. I have been sending him regular emails suggesting that we need to sort things out but he doesn't respond. He said he was arranging a solicitor 3 weeks ago - I have heard nothing. He said that he saw the Solicitor last Friday - I have heard nothing. He said that he wanted to talk to me regarding the outcome of that meeting - I have heard nothing. I can't live like this - it's awful.

Also I should mention that my partner attempted to assault my y son (who is 18) fortunately I got in the way and managed to protect my Son.

What can I do either to engage him in communication and sort things out (namely the sale of the house) and stop him from just turning up at the house and intimidating us.

You should have reported this to the Police at the time or at least applied for an injunction. Unfortunately the longer you leave matters like this the less it appears that you are afraid of him. Harsh I know but that is the approach the courts will take.
It is still not to late to report this assault on you and the one on your son to the Police. Hopefully the police will put bail conditions on him not to approach you until a decision has been made to charge him At present he has total control of the situation stop being bullied by him and take some action

Hi - Thanks so much for your response. I did report him to the Police at the time and he was arrested and because he admitted to the assault he received a caution.

Yes, you are absolutely right, I need to take control and stop letting him bully and intimidate us.

Thanks again for your time and response.
