We have a strip of land at the rear of our house which has been unused for 5 years plus. It is now very overgrown. I applied to the land registry to determine who owned the land with the view of buying it thus extending our garden. I have written to the registered owner address they gave me - twice. No reply. I have made various other enquiries to the council, probate office etc. but I am unable to get any further information. Can you tell me where I go from here.
Thank you

Nowhere. If the owner does not want to communicate with you and does nothing with his property that is his right and an end to the matter.
Extend the garden and use this strip of land. After ten years you can apply to the Land Registry for ownership of the registered title under adverse possession.
