Hello , my garden is really scary , it's like walking onto the set from the film Arachnophobia . There are webs spanning areas from my back door right down to the back gate . When I let my dog out she comes back in covered in cobwebs and when I go out there to poop scoop I have to wave the yard brush through the webs to get through.
I don't want to harm these rather large bulbous spiders as I think they are garden ones and not coming in my house., however , has anyone got an idea of how to reduce their numbers ?

Heya Bigmamma :D

My dog runs through them too lol and his ears are covered in cobwebs when he comes back in :(
He used to eat them (the spiders) but now??? he'd rather bring in the frogs and snails lol....

Do you have a bird table? btw in answer to your q. as garden birds eat spiders... so encouraging more birdies into the garden may help lol....

Hee hee , you two ....behave ...:-)
Hi bigmamma
As you already know, I am terrified of spiders.
I don't mind them outside, only when they come into the house and I have had the most enormous ones this year.
My litttle Westie plays with them outside, so I just leave her too it.
Could be you are noticing them more because there is more dew outside just now.
Just brush away as you are doing. As long as they don't come into the house, I would be very grateful for that. lol

Hi cruella , I am the same , I don't like them in the house but will leave them alone in the garden , it's just getting through them and their webs , I only go out there in the day !
Hope you are well :-) xx
yeuk, i hate them too and I would recommend the 'hairspray' and a lighter approach, spectacular scene

I have a spider living in my car as there are webs on the headrests in the morning, creeps me out, Im sure I drive with my shoulders way up at my ears, you know that 'cringe' look? not attractive lol

I live in complete fear and hatred of them

Hi weeal , it amazes me how there is always a spider somewhere in a car , quite often in the wing mirrors :-0
So funny, I cant stop laughing now

Quality
Hi BM, I know this isn't directly answering your question, but I had to laugh when I saw weeal's post about driving with a "passenger". I've got a horsebox that I drive most Saturdays / Sundays, and there's always a huge spider who cunningly conceals himself when we set off, only to announce his presence ("Taa-daaaaaaahhhh!!!) by abseiling into my lap as I'm driving round a roundabout on the A! with two massive horses in the back.
I feel your pain chick....although I'm more for the bird table than the Arnold Swarzenegger flamethrower approach xx
Question Author
Omg cheries , I have this funny image in my mind now of you trying to keep it together when the spider appears ! :-)
I'm not sure I could , though imagine how hard it would be to explain to the police why your horsebox had overturned on the roundabout !
Bigmamma - is that you, back again in a new guise? I've been away for a bit, too (new job!). I've got a few resident spiders in the car and one huge lass, who's spun a web across the top of one of my chicken runs. Whenever I go in to let the girls out, I have to duck, so's I don't get tangled up in it (or disturb the spider - I quite like them!!). She's been there for a couple of weeks now & I must admit, I'm getting fed up, having to crawl under her web, especially when it's wet underfoot & I get covered in mud, but I'll let her be. Spiders are good - they eat flies. Flies (especially bluebottles) are evil.... K xx

Hi , as promised kleiber , here I am . :-) xxx
Morning Bigmamma :)
We had a lovely big juicy spider come visit last night.... mr B caught it in a glass and it was not happy!!! jumping up and down and its feet tapping on the glass.... hehe

That naughty dog of mine caught another frog... he's very gentle with them... just holds them in his mouth, but if you don't catch him doing it he brings them in.

One jumped out and landed in mr Bs wineglass lol :D....
