When I look at something for a while (about 2-3 minutes at exactley the same point) and i'm very relaxed....then something strange starts to happen. My field of vision seems to cut down by the edges going grey and blurry. Eventually it's just the object or part of the object in front of me I can see clearly. Eventually all the grey areas go black, and everything seems to slightly shimmer or pulsate. Occasionally it feels kinda weird too _. As soon as I shift my eyes or loose concentration it's all suddenly broken and my vision goes back to normal. Has anyone else ever experienced this, and if so what is it called? It's starting to scare me a bit now, esepcailly after the time the kaleidoscope of colours started to appear in the blackened out part of my vision....and the object turned bright white and slowly faded away.

I think it's what happens when you successfully look at those "Magic Eye" things, and quite normal. My eyes do it to.
It might be an idea to have your GP refer you to an Opthalmologist or at the very least have your eyes tested by an Optician, just to err on the side of caution.
I think it's normal. It's just the brain being lazy in looking only at the thing in the middle that it's concentrating on.
Yes, I have experienced things like that also. When I was younger my cousins and I used to stare at doors and chairs and mirrors until our eyes made it seem like the objects were slowly moving and then we would pretend it was the devil! I always wondered what people were seeing when the eyes go all sorts of far away, like they're staring into space, or through space.
I've had a similar thing happen to expect id doesnt freak me out. In fact I used to try and see just how much of my vision got cut out! not very easy to focus on something for that long though...! don't think its anything to worry about
*except!
You're experiencing 'tunnel vision'. Good news if you are a 100m runner.

Woo, nothing to worry about ^_^ No i'm not a 100m runner :-( But I am a good sprinter :D
I have experienced this. It happens often. It is because u have focused on something for to long. Your mind will automaticly go off into a daze. It is perfectly normal. NO Worries Mate
This has happened to me plenty of times, its nothing i like to experience because it kind of scared me at first and sometimes still does. After the third time i wanted to find out what was going on i asked my mom and she explained how i focussed on something with my eyes far too long so my brain reacted to it. When my vision goes black i close my eyes and rub them for awhile, it usually helps.
