It really makes my blood boil to read yet another "millionaire" is funding the McCanns! Why are they so special in terms of being parents of missing children? What about all the other missing children? Why do they deserve everyones pity when others are long forgotten? What about the 1m in the Madeleine fund that they "wont" or "cant" use? Is that in a high interest rate account somewhere earning lots of interest to be creamed off? They both have jobs Why don't they go back to work and earn some money like all the others
have to? It's never about Madeleine - its always all about THEM! OK Rant over - just wondered what others thought!

AOG - saw your link re the car bursting into flames. Very disturbing. but surely a rare occurence? I would bet that more children have been killed by paedophiles than in burning cars. I am not being flippant or sarcastic by the way. to come to your point about the government having to take responsibility for bad parenting, i would like to make the following point. Has the government not got a responsibllity to protect children from paedophiles? Why are there so many known paedophiles walking the streets? My daughter has a friend who does some sort of therapy work with paedophiles, and a lot of them dont like what they do, but cant control themselves. They actually beg to be locked up, so they cant do it again. But unfortunately the government wont provide the funds for this and chuck them back on the street to prey on our children. So if the government are really interested in protecting children, why dont they stop doing this .
Why is CHILDLINE not government funded.?
Why is the NSPCC not government funded?
Sorry if I ranted there, but it is something i feel very strongly about for personal reasons.
Dassie / AOG - yes you are quite right a car can burst into flames - however people do think about it and will often think that the chances of this happening is minute (quite rightly).

Of course, you could turn it around and tell people that they have to think and possibly carry out a risk assessment for every decision that they make

Oh hang on a minute - isn't that the thing you both moan about on other questions (PC gone mad, nanny state, health and safety Britain etc etc).

Can't have it both ways.
I also have to say that I would never and have never left my child unattended in a car for even a short time, always had a dread that someone would crash into it. We are none of us perfect but apparently some of us can see dangers that others can't which is what makes us all human.
netibiza - i have just looked up the jonbenet case on the internet and yes you are right. it is very similar. i dont know if that is good for the McCanns or not.
i just cant help thinking that if Madeleine had disappeared in this country. There would have been no need for the McCanns to have launched a publicity campaign. the police here would have done all that. They would have had a police liaison officer assigned to them, who would have kept them up to date on what was happening. the forensics would have been taken before they were destroyed or contaminated. None of this was done in Portugal. (allegedly)
Have just rethought my previous posting and I do sound smug, sorry, but I did have hindsight due to the fact that I was a teacher to hippie children (who needed care and attention as the parents weren't often there) and also a nanny, so by the time I was a mother (late in life) I had seen a lot of the pitfalls. Obviously I have made mistakes but luckily my child was not involved in any of them.
i would urge all those who so readily believe that Kate McCann is responsible for the death of her child to think of how badly treated Sally Clark was. She was wrongly imprisoned , cut off from her family and badly harassed whilst in prison. and although released eventually was never able to get over her ordeal. She died this year at the very young age of 42. Her family are convinced that the stress of what she was wrongfully made to endure is what killed her. Please think about it the next time you feel like hurling abuse and allegations at the McCanns.
MATA HATI - RE YOUR ORIGINAL QUESTION
Having just read a report that the Find Madeleine Fund has engaged an SAS type investigative company to follow up alleged sightings that the portugese police did not follow up, and also are as we speak are investigating known paedophile rings in various european countries, it ocurred to me that other children might benefit from this operation .
Call me intolerable, call me what you like, but it makes my blood boil when I hear of KNOWN PHAEDOPHILE RINGS!!!
Why the hell are they allowed to exist, they should be wiped out. (humanely of course), But at the very least locked up.
Oh hang on a minute - isn't that the thing you both moan about on other questions (PC gone mad, nanny state, health and safety Britain etc etc).

Can't have it both ways.

No oneeyedvic, nothing to do with PC, Nanny State,Health & Safety Britain

Just learning to take responsibiliy for one's own actions. it's not very hard. Finding the time to make the effort perhaps, sometimes inconvenient maybe, but better to be safe than sorry.
Anyone seen the photo of the little blond girl in Morocco - it so could be Maddie - I am very hopeful that it is.

i hope the girl in the photo is Madeleine also. i am keeping my fingers crossed, and hoping they have got the technology to zoom in on her eyes. my heart skipped a beat when i saw the photograph. what it must do to her parents i dont know1
"What it must do to her parents"................Well if they know more than they are saying they're probably glad the attention is being deflected away from them!
Dassie you are one nasty individual!
Have you not EVER made a mistake?
If you had , would you ever admit it?
sambro.

No, my friends think the exact opposite!

If you read my comment carefully, I did not mention anything about a mistake, but alluded to the fact that, as I believe at the moment, they know more than they are divulging as "official suspects"

We are all entitled to our opinions and it just so happens I, along with a few others, think there is more to this than just having left Maddy alone.
