from their point of view, maybe they're giving dd payers a 5 discount?
Question Author
still a ripoff jno
they are expensive, and they pulled the plug on SKY channels cos it was costing too much so the customer has less channel choice for same dosh!
maybe, but then it'd be time to find another provider, I guess.
i just use freeview now, got SKY news for free
It's not a rip off. DD doesn't cost you anything, is cheaper for Virgin to process than any other form of payment AND IT SAVES ME 5 A MONTH!

And no flapping around sending cheques either. I pay all my bills by DD and get this saving on most of them. Virgin isn't alone in this - you find a provider who doesn't do it.
You get the freeview channels free through Virgin if you have the phone line.

I don't have a phone line so I find it very cheap. No problems for me.
They're not the only ones, BT charge 4.50 a quarter if you pay by cheque and not DD.

Also, just as an after thought I suppose as well as being cheaper to pay by DD it makes sure BT/Virgin/whoever get their money when they want it, not when you wanna pay it so therefore causes less grief / money by cutting out sending red bills etc??
they didnt pay their bill to sky so sky took away their channels,,bet branson wouldnt let you get away wiv not paying your bill for 2 years,,
ethel and jno - yes it is a rip off.

I have been with this company for about 13 years - and the introduction of this fee was ADDED to my bill, not taken away.

seriously, if it was a discount they'd be shouting it from the rooftops!!

it is an additional fee because they don't want to pay any more staff - by doing this people lose their jobs!

you are not saving 5.
i mean on the day they brought this arrangement in, did you get a letter saying ''we are deducting 5 from your bill from now on because you pay by DD''?
No - we just got it added to our bills!

its all very well saying that you think everyone should pay by direct debit, but not all of us have a regular income and can guarantee the cash will be there on the date of the DD.

I prefer to organise my payments as and when I have the cash in my account.
