At a guess, I'd say a good part of it is to do with doing a web search on whatever subject and finding a link to here.
Well that's how I found AB, but I'm in the UK. Was only a week ago and I've already forgotten what I was originally looking for, cos I'm too busy reading the Q&A's that are posted!!
I'm an American who found it on a web search. I'm actually surprised there aren't more Americans on here - the site has retained a very strong UK flavor to it.
It would be interesting if AB Ed posted a breakdown by country of all the registered users. However, in the "Suggestions" section, we have been asking Abswerbank for each poster's country to be shown alongside their name. This would be useful (if not essential in some cases) to provide an accurate answer to certain questions.
Why does it matter what country you are from??
cbmissy, it can help give an answer to some questions if we know where the poster is from. For example, there is a question on this site which asks, "Where can I get cheap driving lessons?". How can anyone answer that without knowing at least which country the poster is in? Answerbank has visitors from all over the world.
Sorry: cbluemissy
I think it's great that we get so many nationalities (particularly Americans) on here - such is the global power of the internet, I suppose! Mind you, why so many of them think we Limeys may know more about their Wild West history than they do is anyone's guess :O)
