What is the natural lifespan of a chicken

I know there are some hen experts out there, so can anyone tell me what is the average natural lifespan of a chicken? We need to know as we will be keeping them in France. Cheers

Thanks, I've been wondering that, too. Unfortunately, mine never get to that age, as the foxes round here get them, even though my chicken runs look like Alcatraz!
